live from ny

This weekend was kind of amazing. After waiting 12 hours in the rain, sleet, hail and snow, my friends and I got in to see a live taping of SNL. No rehearsal bullshit, the real deal. We got to NBC Studios at 7 PM on Friday and waited until the standby tickets were handed out at 7 AM Saturday. While the weather was freezing, we all tried to stay warm via spooning with each other (or random British men that were in awe of us crazy New Yorkers "cue-ing up" for a sketch comedy show), huddling under sheets, blankets, hats and shower curtains, and wearing multiple pairs of socks. We met some pretty unique characters, such as the crazy old lady who made sure that there was no cutting in line while she remained asleep under her oh-so hip green sleeping bag, a douchebag woman who tried to coerce us into skipping the real show to attend the rehearsal while she was loudly gossiped to her douchebag friend over the phone into the wee hours of the night (this bitch even woke up the lioness that was Ilana), and other die-hard fans that were just as crazy as we were. All in all, it was so worth it. Being in the presence of people like Tina Fey, Steve Martin, Bill Hader, Amy Poehler and Kristen Wiig, just to name a few, was an ethereal experience. Seeing how much fun they were having made me envious of that fact that this is their job! I can't wait to go do it all again, hopefully when the weather it just a little bit warmer. Just a little bit.

On a different note, Marion Cotillard at the Oscars was the cutest thing I have ever seen. Congrats to all who won, and to those who lost, (I'm talking to you, Norbit), there's always next year.
